THIEF, A FORMER SERVANT, ARRESTED BY STAFF OF PS PALAM VILLAGE/SWD

STOLEN CASH & CHEQUE BOOK RECOVERED
 
The staff of PS Palam Village has arrested a burglar namely Arun Tomar, 27 years, R/o Muraina City, Madhya Pradesh, who was a former servant of the complainant. With his arrest, ?73,620/- in stolen cash and a stolen cheque book were recovered. The accused had also withdrawn large amounts earlier using the stolen cheque book.
 
INCIDENT, TEAM & OPERATION:
To curb theft and burglary incidents in the area, a dedicated team comprising ASI Nityanand, ASI Sanjeev Kumar, HC Harender, and HC Ram Charan was constituted under the leadership of Insp. Sudhir Kumar Gulia, SHO/Palam Village and under the close supervision of Sh. Anil Kumar, ACP/Sub-Division Delhi Cantt.
The team, regularly briefed on crime prevention, patrolling, and surveillance, acted swiftly on 08.09.2025 when specific intelligence was received that accused Arun Tomar — wanted in E-FIR No. 80080820/2025, U/s 305 BNS, PS Palam Village — was attempting to flee Delhi via Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station.
A trap was laid at the railway station and the accused was apprehended from the parking area after being identified by the complainant. During interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing ?1,00,000 and a cheque book from the complainant’s grocery shop, where he was earlier employed as a helper. Using the cheque book, he forged the signature of the complainant’s wife and illegally withdrew ?1,50,000 from her account, including ?95,000 on 04.09.2025.
From his possession, ?73,620 in stolen cash and the stolen cheque book were recovered.
 
PROFILE OF ACCUSED:
Accused Arun Tomar R/o Muraina City, Madhya Pradesh, Age 27 years, studied up to 10th standard and completed ITI (Electrician Trade) from Muraina (MP). He had been living in Delhi for the past 7–8 years, working as a helper in different grocery shops. While employed at the complainant’s shop, he gained access to critical information and resources. He is addicted to online gambling, which became the prime motive behind the theft, as he needed money to finance his gambling habits.
 
RECOVERY:
1. Stolen Cash ?73,620/-
2. Stolen Cheque Book belonging to the complainant’s mother
