TWO DESPERATE SNATCHERS INCLUDING ONE CCL APPREHENDED BY THE STAFF OF PS PIA, EAST DISTRICT; ONE SNATCHED MOBILE PHONE & SCOOTY USED IN CRIME RECOVERED

Two snatchers including one CCL apprehended by alert police staff of PS Patparganj Industrial Area.
One snatched mobile phone (Infinix S5 Pro) and one Hero Duet scooty (UP14DV7041) used in commission of crime recovered.
Prompt patrolling, quick chase, and public alertness led to immediate arrest.
Main accused Deepak is a drug addict with criminal tendencies.

INCIDENT & INVESTIGATION: -

On 28.08.2025 at around 12:45 AM, complainant Arjun Singh, aged 26 years, resident of Aligarh (UP), was on his way to Gazipur Sabzi Mandi to purchase vegetables. Suddenly, two boys on a white scooty approached him and snatched his mobile phone before fleeing towards NH-24. The complainant raised an alarm and chased them on foot. At the same time, ASI Kuldeep Tyagi and Ct. Rajnish, who were on routine patrolling duty in the area to curb criminal activities, noticed the victim shouting for help and saw the accused fleeing on scooty. Exhibiting alertness, courage, and responsibility, the police team immediately gave chase. During the pursuit, the accused threw away the snatched mobile phone. After a brief but swift chase, two snatchers including one CCL were apprehended near Gazipur Sabzi Mandi Road. Accordingly, a case vides FIR No. 465/25 dated 28.08.2025, U/s 304(2)/317(2)/3(5) BNS, PS Patparganj Industrial Area has been registered. Further investigation of the case is ongoing.

MOTIVE OF THE ACCUSED: -

During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused Deepak is a habitual drug addict and has been consuming smack, liquor, and other intoxicants regularly. In order to arrange quick money for fulfilling his addiction, he along with his juvenile associate planned to commit snatchings in the Gazipur Sabzi Mandi area during late night/early morning hours when pedestrians are comparatively vulnerable. The snatched articles were intended to be sold off immediately to arrange cash for drugs and liquor.

PROFILE OF ACCUSED: -

1. Deepak (24 years) R/o Ghadoli Village, Delhi (temporary residence).

• Permanent Address: Mohalla Nehru Ganj, Anupshahr, Bulandshahr, UP.

• Education: Studied up to 5th standard.

• Occupation: Ran a food cart near Gazipur Paper Market.

• Addiction: Smack, drugs, and liquor.

• Criminal tendency confirmed; motive was to get quick money for drugs.

• Details withheld due to legal provisions

RECOVERY: -

• One snatched mobile phone make Infinix S5 Pro.

• One Hero Duet Scooty No. UP14DV** white Colour used in commission of snatching.
