Arvind Kejriwal must apologize for his fear-mongering statement after the involvement of a 12-year-old student in the school threat case was revealed.

In January 2025 as well, the Aam Aadmi Party (“AAP”) tried to politically exploit the threat emails received by schools. However, they were eventually held accountable when it was revealed that the culprit was again a 12-year-old student—whose father was linked to the NGO run by Ms. Atishi Marlena’s parents.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva has said that any threat to educational institutions is taken very seriously by the Delhi Police. Not only is immediate security inspection conducted, but swift cyber investigations are also carried out to identify the person behind such threats.

In the current case, the Delhi Police investigation has revealed that a student who wanted holidays from school sent fake threat emails to schools and other institutions as a mischievous act.

Mr. Sachdeva stated that it is unfortunate that Arvind Kejriwal tried to exploit this sensitive issue for political gain and, through his statements, attempted to create fear and tension among students and parents in Delhi.

He further said that this is not the first time such an incident has occurred. In January 2025, AAP had similarly tried to politicize the issue of threat emails to schools. Eventually, it was revealed that the person responsible was then too a 12-year-old student, and that student’s father had links with an NGO run by the parents of then Delhi Chief Minister Ms. Atishi Marlena.

Mr. Sachdeva explained that today’s students are quite active in using cyber tools and social media. Since the use of email is also part of the school curriculum, students are allowed access to such platforms from a young age. In a moment of weakness or misjudgment, a child may misuse this access — and these are one such cases.

He emphasized that it would be appropriate for Arvind Kejriwal to apologize for trying to mislead and frighten the people of Delhi.

The people of Delhi expect that in the future, whether the threat is to a school or an airline company, Arvind Kejriwal and his party will refrain from making petty political statements and instead place their trust in security agencies.
