It was many a times observed that a large number of beggars and vagabonds were seen roaming at various intersections and traffic signals in the jurisdiction of Central district, Delhi. This not only affects the civic sense of a developed society but also reflects the challenges faced by these individuals in leading a dignified life.

TEAM AND OPERATION:
With a view to addressing this issue in a humane and constructive manner, and to help these individuals lead a much better life, Central District Police has launched a dedicated rehabilitation drive from 01.07.2025. Such spots were identified and teams at PS levels were formed under the supervision of Inspector (Law & Order) and overall guidance of ACsP Sub-Division.
Under this initiative, all teams have so far rehabilitated 1,173 beggars and vagabonds, who have been lodged in DUSIB-run shelter homes. In these shelter homes, they are provided with basic amenities.

We urge citizens to avoid giving alms at traffic signals, as it sustains the cycle of street begging. Instead, support organised rehabilitation efforts.
