Health Department organized tobacco prohibition awareness campaign

Children and youth are falling prey to the misleading advertising policies being adopted by tobacco companies: Dr. Manoj Agarwal

Tobacco prohibition day was celebrated by the District Health Committee Burhanpur in collaboration with Sarva Seva Sankalp Committee Burhanpur. Speaking as the chief guest in the program, Dr. Manoj Agarwal, Director of Shri Sai Nasha Mukti Kendra, said on the misleading strategies being adopted by tobacco companies that tobacco selling companies target children, youth and women through advertising and marketing and trap them in their net. These companies deliberately introduce such products under the guise of smoking prohibition laws, which look harmless in appearance, but hollow out both the body and the society from inside.

As a special guest in the program, Deputy Director Social Justice Mr. Durgesh Dubey said that the youth often adopt narcotics considering it a modernity and status symbol and later this becomes the reason for their downfall.

Opiologist Rajput said that a person becomes violent in a state of intoxication, due to which incidents like quarrels and harassment, domestic violence increase in the house.

Asha workers, Anganwadi workers, ANM and women working in the social sector and from the society were also present in the program. Under the program, everyone was sworn in to not consume drugs and a signature campaign was launched to play the role of a motivator.
