Delhi Police Busts Inter-State Auto Theft Racket, 21 Luxury Cars Recovered

? 21 (TWENTY-ONE) HIGH END LUXURY CARS, HAVING FORGED NUMBER PLATE AND A FORGED REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE WERE RECOVERED. 
                          
INTRODUCTION:??  
In a significant crackdown on organized auto theft, the Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Cell (AEKC) of the Delhi Police Crime Branch has successfully busted a sophisticated inter-state network of auto-lifters. The operation led to the arrest of four Punjab-based receivers and the recovery of 21 luxury vehicles bearing forged registration documents and tampered engine/chassis numbers.
INCIDENT, TEAM & OPERATION:? 
To curb the incidents of auto thefts cases, especially those involving Luxury Cars in Delhi, A team of AEKC comprising of SI Ankur, SI Ashok Kumar, SI Vijay Kumar, SI Sanjay, HC Vinit, HC Somesh and Ct. Pyar Singh lead by Insp Daleep Kumar and supervised by Sh. Naresh Kumar ACP/AEKC and overall supervision of the undersigned was constituted. 
The team studied the pattern of the incidents of thefts, time of theft, and CCTV footages of various cases. It was revealed that the accused persons mostly operate in the midnight and they aimed mostly the luxury cars. The study also revealed that the accused persons hardly take a few minutes to open and start the targeted cars. The team also took the help of secret informers and information about this gang. It revealed that some receivers of Punjab are active in Delhi and are taking the stolen cars to Punjab and selling especially in the border districts.
On dated 7/5/2025 an information was received that accused Avtar Singh @ Sunny Arora a receiver of stolen cars would be coming in a blue colour stolen Baleno car having fake number plates along-with his associate and will be going on DND towards KMP and thereafter will go to Punjab via KMP. On this information the above said team laid a trap at DND Fly over. At about 6.30 PM as per information the team noticed the said Baleno car and stopped it. The car was having fake number plate of number DL 8CS 3620. The persons who were found in the car were identified as, (1) Avtar Singh @ Sunny Arora age 40 years s/o Satvinder R/o Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar Tarantaran Road Amritsar (Pb) and (2) Harpreet Singh @ Hunny s/o Charanjeet Singh Age 32 tears r/o Village Dakhla PS Jandialaguru District Amritsar (Pb). On checking the engine number and chasis number the car was found stolen vide e-FIR No. 11850/2025 dated 30/4/2025 PS Saket South Delhi having original no. DL 10 CM 5362. The car was having fake number plates. One forged R/C of Number DL 8CS 3620 was also recovered from the possession of the accused persons. Hence a case vide FIR No. 110/2025 U/ s 317(2)/336(3)/340(2)/345(3)/3(5) BNS, was registered and investigation was taken up.
 
INTERROGATION AND FURTHER RECOVERIES:? 
During interrogation both the accused persons disclosed that they are basically the receivers of stolen cars and thereafter they sell the cars in Amritsar and Ludhiana in Punjab. They have also disclosed that they used to receive the cars from Dashrath and Raj Kumar. The said recovered car has also been received from them a few days ago. They further disclosed that they have received a large number of other luxury cars like Creta, KIA, Fortuner and Thar and sold the same to different persons in Punjab. They also used to prepare the forged Registration Certificates of the cars. They are involved in 15-20 such cases of cars. The accused persons were taken on 10 days police remand and several raids were conducted in the area of Amritsar and Tarantaaran, which are the border districts of Punjab. During the raids two more accused persons Namely Paramdeep @ Lotey S/o Baldev Singh R/o Urban Estate Phase -II, Dugari Ludhiana (Pb) and Manpreet @ Bau S/o Daler Singh R/o Village & PS Makhu District Ferozepur (Punjab), were also arrested and remanded to Police Custody for 10 days. During the further investigation more stolen cars have been recovered. a total of 21 high end luxury cars have been recovered so far.     
Modus Operandi
The accused used to purchased stolen luxury vehicles such as Fortuner, Thar, KIA, and Creta for ?4–5 lakhs. They tampered with chassis and engine numbers, prepared forged registration certificates, and sold the vehicles as genuine in Punjab.  
 
Profiles of Accused Persons:
 
1. Avtar Singh @ Sunny Arora S/o Satvinder Singh 
Aged about 40 years, Avtar Singh @ Sunny Arora is resident of Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar Tarantaran Road Amritsar (Pb). He is studied up to 12th class. He lives with his family in a rented house. Earlier he was in the business of property dealing. Now he sells Subzi at Subzi Mandi Vallah in Amritsar Punjab. He got involved in Auto theft through two persons namely Gora and Binda of Amritsar Punjab. He has been arrested in two times in Amritsar Punjab in auto theft cases and about 10 vehicles have been recovered from him.   He met with Harpreet @ Sunny in jail and made him associate. Now he is receiving and selling stolen cars with him. (Previous involvements- 04)
 
2. Harpreet Singh @ Hunny S/o Charanjeet Singh
Aged about 32 years Harpreet Singh @ Hunny is resident of Village Dakhla PS Jandialaguru District Amritsar (Pb). He has done BCA from Punjab University. He had also spent around 5 years in Cyprus and was doing Pig farming there. He came back to India in 2017 and thereafter stared selling vegetables in Vallah Subzi Mandi Amritsar (Pb). He was arrested in a case of house theft in which the house hold articles were recovered from his possession. He met the accused Avtar Singh @ Sunny Arora in jail and thereafter he started receiving and selling the stolen cars along-with accused Sunny Arora.
3. Paramdeep @ Lottey s/o Sh. Baldev Singh 
Aged about 42 years accused is resident of Urban Estate Phase -II, Dugari Ludhiana (Pb). He is having parents, wife, brother and two children in his family.  He is studied up to Matric. He was having a factory of auto-parts in Ludhiana which suffered losses during Corona and was closed. Thereafter he started sale purchase of old cars. During the said period he received stolen cars and sold them on high prices.   
4. Manpreet @Bau s/o Late Daler Singh
Aged about 29 years he is resident of R/o Village & PS Makhu District Ferozepur (Punjab). He is having Diploma in Civil Engineering from Punjab University. He is having mother, wife, brother, sister and one son in family. A divorce case is pending with his wife. Earlier he used to work as a driver. In 2020 he started receiving stolen vehicles and selling those vehicles at high prices. He has been arrested previously two times in Punjab.

Further Investigation: -
? The accused are currently in police custody. Investigations are ongoing to trace more stolen vehicles and identify other members of the network, including vehicle thieves operating in Delhi and adjoining areas.
? This bust represents a significant success in the fight against organized vehicle theft and the circulation of stolen property across state lines.
