Requested to include lift irrigation in the guidelines of “PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana”.

Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the tenth meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday. He said that due to rapid urbanization in the state, the problem of drainage in cities has become a serious challenge. He requested that a special plan should be made to develop a sustainable drainage system at the national level to solve this problem.

The Chief Minister requested to include lift irrigation in the guidelines of “PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana”. He said that due to the special geographical conditions of Uttarakhand, only 10 percent of the land in the mountainous region is currently being irrigated. He said that special efforts are being made to conserve rainwater through the “River Link Project” as well as the construction of check dams and small reservoirs towards connecting glacier-based rivers with rain-based rivers in Uttarakhand.

The Chief Minister said that in the year 2026, Uttarakhand In 2019, the famous “Maa Nanda Raj Jat Yatra” is to be organized as the mountain Maha Kumbh and in the year 2027, “Kumbh” is to be organized in Haridwar. He sought cooperation to make both these events “grand and divine”. The Chief Minister said that “Demographic Dividend” has an important role in the creation of a developed India. To get this benefit, it is necessary to exploit it within a certain time frame. From this point of view, the coming ten years are very important for our state, because in these years we can take maximum advantage of “Demographic Dividend”. Keeping this in mind, work is being done at various levels to promote self-employment in the state.

The Chief Minister said that while the contribution of the primary sector in the GDP of Uttarakhand is only 9.3 percent, about 45 percent of the population is engaged in this work. In view of this problem, we have started work on various projects with the aim of motivating the farmers of the state to adopt “High Value Agriculture” instead of “Low Value Agriculture”, which includes Apple Mission, Kiwi Mission, Dragon Fruit Mission, Millet Mission and promotion of aromatic agriculture.

The Chief Minister said that under the strong leadership of the Prime Minister, India is moving rapidly towards becoming a developed and self-reliant nation by the year 2047. To fulfill this resolution, the Uttarakhand government is also working with determination keeping in mind financial management and financial discipline. The state's economy has grown by about one and a half times in the last three years. While our state secured the first position in the SDG ranking released by NITI Aayog in the year 2023-24, in the "CareAge Rating Report" released this year, we have got the second position in the category of small states in the field of good governance and financial management. Under the guidance of the Prime Minister, the "Uniform Civil Code" law was implemented in the state. In the last three and a half years, more than 23 thousand youth of the state have been successful in getting government jobs.

The Chief Minister said that the 38th National Games held in Uttarakhand were organized on the theme of "Green Games" keeping in mind the Prime Minister's vision of Net Zero. In these games, 4000 medals were prepared by "recycling" "electronics waste" material. The entire energy requirements were met through "solar energy". In this event, success was achieved in preventing the emission of about 4000 to 5000 tonnes of carbon dioxide. He said that under the guidance of the Prime Minister, successful results of "Winter Travel" have come out. The tourism sector of the state has benefited greatly from the Prime Minister's visit to Harshil and Mukhaba.

The Chief Minister said that work has been started at the ground level by making a comprehensive policy to attract tourists in the state through adventure tourism, eco-tourism and high-end tourism. Special attention is being given to "sustainable and inclusive development" based on innovation and technology in Uttarakhand. He said that on the lines of GDP, the state has started issuing GEP i.e. “Gross Environment Product Index”, through its assessment, better harmony can be established between economy and environment. The Chief Minister said that “Geothermal Energy Policy” will be implemented soon in the state. “Mukhyamantri Solar Swarojgar Yojana” has been started in the state. The beneficiaries of this scheme are earning more than one lakh rupees per month.
