Delhi Traffic Police Organizes Road Safety Awareness Programmes Across the City

In a continued effort to promote road safety and responsible driving behavior, the Delhi Traffic Police successfully organized a series of Road Safety Awareness Programmes across various parts of the city. These initiatives targeted a diverse range of audiences including cyclists, students, public transport drivers, and daily commuters with the aim of spreading awareness about traffic rules, women’s safety, and responsible road usage.

Empowering Young Minds: Road Safety Programme for ITI women Students
A major awareness drive was conducted at TT Park, Roshanara, for students of ITI, Vivek Vihar. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 63 women students and 2 lecturers. The session aimed to educate the youth about traffic regulations, road discipline, and the significance of following safety norms as both pedestrians and future drivers.
Organized by the Road Safety Cell under the supervision of ACP Shri Ashok Mandola, the event featured interactive demonstrations. Students actively participated in a road safety quiz competition and received practical knowledge through mock intersections, signal setups, and traffic models in the park. Additionally, the use of the Road Safety Exhibition Van, equipped with informative videos, made learning about traffic rules engaging and visually impactful.

Engaging Taxi and Auto Drivers on Road and Women’s Safety : As part of its inclusive approach, the Delhi Traffic Police, Road Safety Cell conducted a dedicated awareness session for 40 taxi and TSR (Three-Seater Rickshaw) drivers from the Preet Vihar and Vikas Marg areas. The drivers were sensitized on road safety measures, women’s safety, and the importance of respectful and law-abiding conduct while on duty. These sessions aimed to foster a culture of accountability and responsible driving among commercial drivers who serve thousands of commuters every day.

Spreading Road Safety Awareness at Busy Intersections : To extend the reach of its campaign, the Road Safety Cell organized on-ground awareness drives at major intersections, including Janpath and Karkari Mor Red Light in Delhi. Officers engaged with all categories of road users pedestrians, two& four wheeler riders, motorists, and cyclists educating them on safe road practices, adherence to traffic signals, and general road etiquette. Through this grassroots initiative, approximately 5,500 individuals were directly sensitized.

Special Awareness Sessions for DTC and Cluster Bus Drivers : Recognizing the pivotal role of public transport in road safety, targeted training sessions were held at DTC Depot Dichaon Kalan, Cluster Depot Rewala Khanpur, and TPT Dhaula Kuan. A total of 52 bus drivers and 3 officers participated in these sessions, which focused on traffic regulations, defensive driving techniques, pedestrian safety, and the need for disciplined behavior behind the wheel. These efforts aim to elevate safety standards across Delhi’s public transport system.

Campaign Convener Satya  Vir Katara IPS told Vijay Gaur Bureau Chief that Senior officers, including Special CP Traffic Sh. Ajay Chaudhary , DCP HQ / Traffic Sh. Shashank Jaiswal, commended the efforts of the Road Safety Cell in successfully spreading awareness. They emphasized the significance of such initiatives in fostering safer road habits and ensuring better compliance with traffic regulations, particularly among public transport personnel. He further told that the  Delhi Traffic Police remains dedicated to promoting road safety awareness and ensuring a safer, more efficient road environment for all citizens.
