The story of Dasha Mata

King Nal lived happily with Queen Damyanti. Queen Damyanti used to apply sandalwood to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Mahalakshmi and tie a sacred thread and pray to them for the protection and prosperity of the kingdom. She used to wear the remaining sacred thread around her neck. One day, the king got angry and broke the thread from the queen's neck and threw it away. Due to its breaking, the king's good fortune also broke and the king's kingdom was destroyed, the king became poor. One day, the king saw an old woman in his dream who advised him to worship the Peepal tree and offer a yellow thread. The king, along with the queen, worshipped Ashwattha and offered a sacred thread with sandalwood and observed a fast. Due to the power of this worship, he regained his kingdom. A huge crowd gathered to worship Dasha Mata and a fair was organized.
