New Delhi, April 5 : Delhi BJP President Shri Virendra Sachdeva today addressed a press conference, hosted by Media In-Charge Shri Praveen Shankar Kapoor. He stated that Arvind Kejriwal, who came to power with promises of leading a simple government, had his luxurious lifestyle exposed by his secretive construction of a ?52 crore glass palace. Today, we are presenting more evidence of Kejriwal’s five-star lifestyle and corruption, and we demand an immediate response from him. Delhi BJP Spokespersons Dr. Anil Gupta and Shri Shubhendu Shekhar Awasthi were also present at the conference.

Delhi BJP President further explained that a citizen from Maharashtra had filed an RTI seeking details on the maintenance expenses for the general wear and tear, sewage, electricity, and structural work of Kejriwal’s old residence bungalow between 2015 and 2022. The Delhi government responded on December 29, 2023, providing a breakdown of the expenditures. The figures revealed in the RTI expose Kejriwal’s extravagant lifestyle and the corruption in government works.

The RTI applicant forwarded this response to Delhi BJP, and today Shri Virendra Sachdeva has shared it with the media, revealing that even large industrialists in Delhi might not incur such high annual maintenance costs on their homes or multiplex complexes as Kejriwal’s bungalow.

Shri Sachdeva highlighted that, according to the RTI response, between March 31, 2015, and December 27, 2022, a total of ?29,56,35,074 was spent on maintenance work related to the general wear and tear, sewage, electricity, and structural work of Arvind Kejriwal’s bungalow on Flag Staff Road.

Shri Sachdeva further pointed out that this means, on average, ?3,69,54,384 was spent annually on maintenance of Kejriwal’s old bungalow over the 8 years from 2015 to 2022.

The Delhi BJP President emphasized that an annual maintenance cost of ? 3.69 crore for a single government bungalow suggests that Kejriwal either maintained it at a royal standard or, more likely, was involved in corrupt practices.

In Delhi, where one can build a decent 250-300 sq. yard bungalow for ?3 to ?4 crore, the cost of maintenance for Kejriwal’s bungalow at ?3.69 crore annually is astonishing.

Shri Virendra Sachdeva concluded by saying that Kejriwal has been avoiding the media for a long time. The people of Delhi expect him to come forward and clarify what exactly was so deficient in his bungalow that ?31 lakh per month was needed for its maintenance.
