Rajiv Bansal, Member Secretary, DSLS, demonstrated his capabilities by settling 1,56,692 cases and getting a settlement of Rs. 1708.21 crore in the National Lok Adalat organized in Delhi. National Lok Adalat was conducted with unexpected success under the able guidance and direction of Hon'ble Justice Vibhu Bakhru, District Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court and Executive Chairman of DSLSA: Delhi State Legal Services Authority, under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority, successfully organized its fourth National Lok Adalat of the year 2024 at various judicial sites including District Court Forum, Hon'ble Delhi High Court, Permanent Lok Adalats, Debt Recovery Tribunals, State Consumer Commission and District Consumer Commissions. This important event is an important milestone in our commitment to ensure justice for all. It transcends traditional boundaries and is changing the landscape of dispute resolution in India. The National Lok Adalat, in its endeavour to address a wide range of disputes, targets a wide range of cases. These include issues falling within the purview of Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, criminal negotiable cases, civil cases, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal cases, bank recovery cases, matrimonial disputes (excluding divorce cases), land acquisition disputes, labour disputes and cases governed by the Arbitration and Conciliation Act. Additionally, the scope of adjudication has been extended to negotiable traffic challans as well, thereby widening the scope of the initiative. A major benefit of participating in the National Lok Adalat is its cost-effectiveness. By focusing on amicable solutions, it often eliminates the need for lengthy legal battles, resulting in savings of both time and money.

 

DSLSA Member Secretary Rajiv Bansal highlighted the ongoing efforts under the able guidance and direction of Hon'ble Justice Vibhu Bakhru, Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court and Executive Chairman, DSLSA. These efforts are focused on advancing alternative dispute resolution techniques with the dual objective of promoting them as preventive measures and during ongoing litigation. This proactive approach underlines the commitment to effective conflict resolution strategies throughout the entire legal process.

 

Bureau Chief Vijay Gaur informed that in this National Lok Adalat, Justice Vibhu Bakhru, Acting Chief Justice, Delhi High Court/ Executive Chairman, DSLSA along with Sanjay Garg, Hon'ble Principal District & Sessions Judge (Headquarters), Central District and Vinod Kumar, Hon'ble Principal District & Sessions Judge, West District, DSLSA Member Secretary Rajiv Bansal, along with Hon'ble Secretaries of DLSA/DLSA and other dignitaries, personally visited the Tis Hazari Court Complex to oversee the arrangements for the 4th National Lok Adalat. The dignitaries took an extensive tour of the Court complex, and actively participated in discussions with the Presiding Officers and Associate Members overseeing the various Lok Adalat Benches. During the event, Hon’ble Executive Chairman, Hon’ble Justice Vibhu Bakhru expressed his heartfelt appreciation and recognition to the transgender persons, acid attack survivors and senior citizens who have been diligently serving as Associate Members at the Tis Hazari Court complex, and underlined their invaluable contribution to the legal system. Hon’ble Member Secretary, DSLSA, Rajiv Bansal emphasized that the National Lok Adalat serves as a unique platform for dispute resolution, reconciliation and amicable settlement. He further emphasized that this initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to develop a legal system that is not only fair and just but also accessible to all sections of society. Rajiv Bansal highlighted DSLSA's continued involvement of transgenders, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, persons from the North-Eastern region of the country and acid attack victims in the decision making process by appointing them as Associate Members in the Lok Adalat Benches in various court complexes. Special help desks located at the entrance of each court complex provided information related to Lok Adalats to the visitors, thereby facilitating them in seeking amicable dispute resolution. Additionally, provisions were made to provide basic amenities and promote a conducive environment for resolution of disputes. The Lok Adalats were very actively attended by judges from across Delhi. Litigants actively participated in the proceedings for settlement/amicable settlement of their cases.
