BJP workers protested against the area MLA over the poor condition of Chandni Chowk

BJP workers today organized a protest near Mori Gate against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA of the area over the deteriorating condition of Chandni Chowk. As the protestors marched from Mori Gate towards the MLA’s office near Sis Ganj Gurudwara, the Delhi Police forcefully stopped them near Cloth Market, Fatehpuri.

The protest was led by District President and former Councillor Mr. Arvind Garg. Prominent participants included State Spokesperson Mr. Praveen Shankar Kapoor, District In-Charge Mr. Rajesh Bhatia, Mandal President Mr. Rohit Sharma, District General Secretary Mrs. Lata Sodhi, District Officers Mr. Sunil Sharma, Mr. Ashok Sharma Guddan, Mr. Ashok Tomar, Mr. Gopal Garg, Mr. Deepak Mahendra, and others.

Mr. Arvind Garg said that the current AAP MLA and his father have been representing Chandni Chowk since 1998 and have spent most of the time in power, yet even after 27 years, the residents and traders of Chandni Chowk are still struggling for basic amenities.

Mr. Praveen Shankar Kapoor stated that common people in Chandni Chowk are suffering due to the lack of clean drinking water. Poor citizens are struggling for self-employment opportunities because AAP MLAs have allocated vendor stalls on footpaths to members of the Muslim community. Meanwhile, traders – the backbone of the area’s economy – are distressed due to sealing drives, but all four AAP MLAs remain indifferent.

Mr. Rajesh Bhatia alleged that first the Congress and then Kejriwal came to power using Muslim votes and have deprived the entire Old Delhi area of development. Today, the condition of Chandni Chowk, which generates the highest revenue for the country, is worse than a slum.
