For the first time, students in government schools receive hands-on AI education – Kuljeet Singh Chahal

“Artificial Intelligence (AI) is shaping the future and empowering the next generation with creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills,” said Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal, Vice Chairperson of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), after inaugurating the exhibition “The Aces of AI” today at Navyug School, Sarojini Nagar, under the ‘Double AI’ vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi – “Artificial Intelligence and Aspirational India.”

Shri Chahal highlighted that this initiative aligns with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, who said, “AI is writing the code of humanity in this century.” Hon’ble PM has emphasized India’s power of Double AI, which encompasses both Artificial Intelligence and Aspirational India. Shri Chahal underlined that NDMC is committed to integrating future-ready skills into its curriculum through this program.

He added that this is a first-of-its-kind initiative where NDMC school students received structured training in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Virtual Reality, culminating in an exhibition showcasing their innovative projects. “This program provides government school students with a first-ever opportunity to gain practical education in AI. Through this initiative, students have learned, experimented, and used AI technologies to create innovations and find solutions to real-life problems,” Shri Chahal said.
Sharing details of the program, Shri Chahal stated that students from Classes 9 to 12 across NDMC and Navyug Schools participated. Over 300 students received more than 6,000 hours of training, covering over 15 modern AI tools, Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Virtual Reality Labs. At today’s exhibition, the best-performing students were honored for their projects, which included AI-generated text, images, and interactive applications.

Speaking at the inauguration, Shri Chahal noted that this initiative aligns with the spirit of the National Education Policy 2020, which emphasizes experiential learning and digital literacy. The program also advances the vision of Developed India 2047 presented by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He emphasized that early exposure to technologies like AI is essential to empower students to become global leaders in innovation.

On this occasion, NDMC Education Director Ms. Kritika Chaudhary informed that the exhibition was organized in collaboration with Homi Lab. This Lab is India’s first Future-Skills Lab, promotes curiosity, creativity, and innovation among students through programs on AI, Robotics, and emerging technologies. She informed that NDMC Education Department, in collaboration with Homi Lab, organized today’s exhibition and award ceremony at Navyug School, Sarojini Nagar, to honor students’ achievements. “This initiative is a milestone for NDMC schools and a significant step toward preparing students for future jobs and innovations,” she added.

Shri Chahal also appreciated the efforts of the Education Department, stating that their innovative initiatives have elevated education standards. He added, “This is a unique opportunity for government school students. NDMC is the first civic body to provide such hands-on AI education under the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.”

On the occasion, NDMC Education Director Ms. Kritika Chaudhary, Principal, teachers, students, and a large number of visitors were present.
