Two key members of M.P. based interstate illegal firearms supply racket arrested.

15 illegal semi-automatic pistols recovered.
Mobile phones and SIM cards also seized.

The team of Special Cell/Northern Range led by Inspr. Anukul Panwar and Insp. Parveen Kumar under the supervision of Shri Rahul Kumar Singh, ACP/Special Cell/NR has arrested two key members of an interstate arms supply syndicate namely (1) Murtaza Khatri s/o Mohd Ayub R/o Tehsil Rajpur, PS Nangal Wadi, District Badwani, Madhya Pradesh (age-31 years) and (2) Wasim Qureshi s/o Vakil Qureshi R/o Tehsil Rajpur, PS Nangal Wadi, District Badwani, Madhya Pradesh (age-25 years) and recovered 15 semi-automatic pistols from their possession. Mobile handsets and SIM cards used in the illegal arms supply activities have also been recovered from them.

Information

The Special Cell of Delhi Police relentlessly working on arms syndicate and gathering information of the key members of the syndicate active in MP and Delhi & NCR to curb the cases of use of firearms in commission of crime. With a view to thwart the nefarious designs of anti-national elements, concerted efforts were made and the team members had succeeded in busting such interstate firearm syndicates in past. The surveillance transpired that the syndicate/arms traffickers of Madhya Pradesh region are supplying illegal firearms to criminals of Delhi & NCR. Accordingly, secret and discreet watch was kept upon the activities of the members of this syndicate.

Operation

The efforts of the teams of several months finally bore fruits when on 05.09.2025, on the basis of a specific information, two members of arms syndicate, namely Murtaza Khatri and Wasim Qureshi both resident of Badwani, MP who came in Delhi to deliver a huge consignment of illegal arms to contact of MP based arms supplier were apprehended from Burari, Delhi. They procured the arms from one of the MP based supplier and total 15 illegal firearms were recovered from their bags i.e. 08 from Murtaza Khatri and 07 from Wasim Qureshi. In this regard, a case under appropriate sections of law was registered at PS Special Cell, Delhi and accused persons were arrested in the present case.

Interrogation of accused persons

Accused Murtaza Khatri and Wasim Qureshi disclosed that they procured illegal firearms from one MP based arms supplier and further supplied the same to his various contacts in MP and Delhi/NCR. Both are involved in procuring and supplying illegal firearms for the last 4-5 years. They further disclosed that they brought the consignment of illegal firearms on the directions of MP based arms supplier and they came to Burari, Delhi to deliver the consignment of pistols to his contact Roshan. They usually bought one firearm in Rs. 15000 and further sold the same in Rs. 25000.

Profile of accused persons

Murtaza Khatri hails from Badwani, MP. He left his studies after 3rd standard. He came in contact with his friend Wasim Qureshi, who lured him into supplying of illegal arms. After that they started to supply illegal firearms to various contacts of MP based firearms supplier. He has been involved in arms trafficking for the last 05 years.

Wasim Qureshi also hails from Badwani, MP. He left his studies after he failed in class 8th. He is running a mutton shop with his family members. One person namely Sardar used to buy mutton from his shop, who told him about business of arms supply. On this, he along with Murtaza Khatri started to supply illegal firearms to various contacts of MP based firearms supplier. He has been involved in arms trafficking for the last 05 years.
