Jhabua BJP's Modi government is the first government in the country which instead of apologizing for correcting its mistakes, calls it a gift for the public

Issuing the above statement, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Sabir Fitwell and Madhya Pradesh Congress General Secretary Nirmal Mehta said that the GST reform done by the central government after 8 years is the result of the efforts of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi ji has been continuously raising the problems faced by the common people and small traders due to GST for the last 8 years and has been demanding its simplification.

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) implemented in a hurry by the Modi government in 2017 has caused a lot of damage to the country's economy, industry and common citizens in eight years. From the implementation of GST to the reform, about 900 amendments have been made, which shows that GST was implemented in a hurry by the Modi government without comprehensive preparations and now with the reform, it has become clear that the government failed to implement it properly. Congress leaders further said that the original structure of GST prepared by the Congress had only two slabs so that the tax system is simple and transparent. But the BJP government made it extremely complex by dividing it into five slabs, due to which the tax burden on the common man and small traders increased manifold. Congress leaders said that this unjust system was called 'Gabbar Singh Tax' by Rahul Gandhi. Due to the wrong policies of the BJP government, thousands of industries were ruined, lakhs of people lost their jobs and crores of rupees were collected from the public in the name of penalty and late fees. The recently announced decision to abolish the 28% slab and bring many items from 12% to 5% is the result of the demand raised by the Congress for years and is the result of Rahul Gandhi's struggle. Congress leaders further said that BJP should apologize to the public and accept that the BJP government made mistakes while implementing GST. It should give account of the late fees and penalties collected in the last 8 years and announce a relief package for small traders.

The BJP government should understand that this is not just a matter of tax but a question of public trust. Congress has always been in favor of a simple and transparent tax system and will continue to do so.
