New Delhi, June 16 –
Under the leadership of Delhi BJP President Shri Virendra Sachdeva, thousands of BJP workers today held a massive protest near the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi. The protest was against the deliberate attack and vandalism at the ancestral home of Nobel Laureate and Bharat Ratna Rabindranath Tagore in Bangladesh, which has been converted into a museum.

The protest was addressed by Shri Virendra Sachdeva along with Member of Parliament Shri Manoj Tiwari, Shri Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, and Shri Yogendra Chandolia.

Protesters gathered at the Prime Minister’s Museum at Teen Murti Chowk and marched toward the Bangladesh High Commission, breaking through two police barricades, where they were stopped by a large contingent of police and taken to the Chanakyapuri Police Station. They were released after about 30 minutes with a warning.

Carrying portraits of Rabindranath Tagore and placards with slogans, the protesters kept chanting:
“India will not tolerate the insult of Bharat Ratna Rabindranath Tagore!”

The protest saw participation from several MLAs, municipal councillors, state office bearers including MLA Shri Rajkumar Bhatia, Shri Gajendra Yadav, Smt. Yogita Singh, Shri Praveen Shankar Kapoor, Shri Vinay Rawat, Shri Satish Garg, Smt. Lata Gupta, Shri Vinod Bacheti, Shri Naresh Eren, Shri Brijesh Rai, Shri Vikram Mittal, Shri Shubhendu Awasthi, Shri Yasir Jilani, Shri Amit Gupta, Smt. Richa Pandey, Shri C.L. Shri Virendra Sachdeva stated:
“Rabindranath Tagore was a great man whose written national anthems are sung in both India and Bangladesh. The deliberate destruction of his ancestral home is not just an attack on a building—it is an attack on Bengali culture and Hindu heritage. Bangladesh came into existence in 1971, but today, we are witnessing the dangerous forces that are influencing it.”

Shri Sachdeva said “Bengali culture speaks of music, sweetness, art, and culture. But if anyone tries to insult it, every Indian will raise their voice. We are united today to send a message that we will not tolerate any tampering with Bengali heritage. If India helps any country, it will not stay silent over injustice against Hindus there.”

“Bangladesh’s national anthem is Amar Sonar Bangla, meaning ‘My Golden Bengal’. Today, we ask : is Bangladesh still golden ?”

MP Shri Manoj Tiwari said:
“The atrocities being committed against Hindus in Bangladesh, especially the deliberate attempt to destroy Rabindranath Tagore’s ancestral home—a heritage of the Hindu community—are unacceptable. The image seen here today will inspire pride among Hindus in Bangladesh.”

“Every child walks the path shown by Rabindranath Tagore. His words are ornaments of Bengal. But the message being sent by the destruction of his home with government support is unforgivable.”

Shri Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said:
“Rabindranath Tagore was a man beyond borders. We condemn the interim government of Bangladesh. The lack of action in this matter so far is highly questionable.”

Shri Yogendra Chandolia said that “This demonstration in Delhi will give strength to Hindus in Bangladesh. The attack on Tagore’s ancestral home reflects the status of Hindus in Bangladesh today. Previous incidents already indicated which hands are controlling the country.
