MAJOR SUCCESS BY CRIME BRANCH: RECEIVER OF STOLEN PROPERTY APPREHENDED WITH SIGNIFICANT RECOVER

OPERATION DETAILS:

In a significant breakthrough, the Eastern Range-I of the Crime Branch, Delhi Police, has apprehended a key receiver involved in handling stolen and snatched mobile phones.

A dedicated team led by Inspector Gurmeet Singh, comprising SI Sanjay Tyagi, ASI Vinay Tyagi, HC Mohit Kumar, HC Ray Singh, HC Tarun, HC Ajay Singh, W/Ct Anupriya, and Ct. Deepak, under the close supervision of ACP Shri Yashpal Singh (ER-I), was tasked with tracking and arresting individuals engaged in this illicit trade.

On the intervening night of 13/14.06.2025, credible input was received indicating that stolen and snatched mobile phones were being purchased from pickpockets and snatchers, and resold at high profits in Karol Bagh. Acting swiftly, a raiding team was formed, and the suspect Jitender Gosain was intercepted near Keshav Puram Metro Station. He was positively identified by the informer and apprehended immediately. Upon sustained interrogation, he confessed to buying stolen mobile phones and storing them at his residence. A search operation was carried out at his premises — House No. 1090/72, Devaram Park, Tri Nagar, Delhi. During the search, a bag containing 17 high-end mobile phones was recovered.

Upon verification through official databases, many of the recovered mobile phones were found to be linked to FIRs already registered at PS Kashmere Gate Metro, PS Azadpur Metro, and PS Subhash Place Metro. Three phones matched with lost property reports. The concerned Investigating Officers have been informed. Efforts are ongoing to establish links for the remaining mobile phones. PROFILE & INTERROGATION OF ACCUSED:

Jitender Gosain, studied up to class 6 and he is engaged in selling artificial jewellery. Due to financial distress and ongoing domestic issues, he got involved in criminal activity. In front of his boutique in Tri Nagar, pickpockets and snatchers often sold stolen mobile phones. He admitted to buying these phones from other co-accused persons who are residents of Brahmpuri, Delhi, and selling them further. Today, he was caught red-handed and 17 mobile phones were recovered from his residence.

INTERROGATION OUTCOME:

The Crime Branch has successfully dismantled a chain of distribution of snatched and stolen mobile phones operating across Delhi. This operation not only led to the arrest of a major receiver but also resulted in the recovery of 17 high-end mobile phones. Further investigations are underway to apprehend other associates and recover more stolen property.
