TWO DESPERATE THEIEVES/PICK POCKTERS APREHENDED BY THE STAFF OF PS PATPARGANJ INDUSTRIAL AREA EAST DISTRICT; 8000/- AND 7000/- CASH RECOVERED

BRIEF: -
               The vigilant staff of Police Station Patparganj Industrial Area, East District, Delhi successfully apprehended two thieves/pickpockets and recovered a total of ?15,000 in stolen cash—?7,000 from the first accused and ?8,000 from the second.
 
 
INCIDENT: -
                 On 01.06.2025, complainant Sh. Krishan Kant, a resident of Gali No. 9, near ND Public School, Hari Vihar, Adarsh Nagar, Ballabgarh, Faridabad (Haryana), reported a case of theft. He stated that while travelling by bus from ISBT Anand Vihar, Delhi to Badarpur, Delhi, he was targeted by a group of seven unknown individuals in the area of PS Patparganj Industrial Area (PIA). Inside the bus, the accused surrounded him, stole his trolley bag, concealed it, and slit open its zip. From the bag, they stole valuable items including:
• 02 gold chains
• 02 gold rings
• 01 mangalsutra
• 02 silver anklets (chandi payal)
• 04 silver bangles for a child (chandi ke kada)
• 02 pairs of child anklets
• ?12,000 in cash
Considering the gravity of the incident, an e-FIR (No. 80052987/2025) was registered on the same day under sections 303(2)/3(5) of the BNS at PS Patparganj Industrial Area and Investigation was taken up. 
 
 INVESTIGATION: -       
       Recognizing the seriousness of the incident, a dedicated team was formed under the leadership of Insp. Satya Prakash SHO/PIA and overall supervision of Sh. Tilak Chand Bist, ACP/Madhu Vihar. The team comprised HC Rahul Panwar, HC Sachin Kumar, Ct. Nitin Kumar Bhati, and Ct. Gaurav Chaudhary.
              During the investigation, CCTV footage from inside the bus was obtained and thoroughly analysed. Meanwhile, the team received a tip-off from a confidential source regarding the location of the suspects. Acting swiftly on this information, a raid was conducted near the Railway Crossing, Out Gate, ISBT Anand Vihar, Delhi. The operation led to the successful apprehension of two suspects. Upon interrogation the both accused identified as: 1. Vijay, resident of Sultanpuri, Delhi, aged 41 years and 2. Satpal, resident of Sultanpuri, North Delhi, aged 62 years. Both accused were interrogated and found to be involved in the aforementioned theft. Further investigation is underway to identify and arrest the remaining co-accused and recover the remaining stolen property.
 
PROFILE OF ACCUSED PERSON: -
 
1. Vijay, aged 41 years, a resident of Sultanpuri, Delhi, currently resides with his family in a rented accommodation at the aforementioned address. A school dropout after Class V, he is employed as a battery rickshaw driver. He is known to be addicted to smack, other narcotic substances, and alcohol.
 
2. Satpal, aged 62 years, a resident of C-Block, Sultanpuri, North Delhi, lives with his family in a rented accommodation at the stated address. A school dropout after Class V, he works as a driver of a Chhota Hathi (small commercial vehicle). He is reportedly addicted to smack, other narcotic substances, and alcohol.
 
MOTIVE OF THE ACCUSED: -
           The primary motive of both accused Vijay and Satpal appears to be financial gain to sustain their drug and alcohol addiction. Both are employed in low-income, unstable jobs and reportedly addicted to smack, narcotic substances, and alcohol. Their substance addiction, combined with financial instability, likely drove them to engage in pickpocketing and theft to fund their daily needs and addictive habits.
 
RECOVERY: - 
• Rs. 7000/- from the possession of accused Vijay.
• Rs. 8000/- from the possession of accused Satpal.
 
APEEAL TO THE PUBLIC: -
The general public is urged to remain alert and vigilant while traveling in public transport, especially in crowded buses and areas like ISBT Anand Vihar, where incidents of pickpocketing and theft are more likely to occur. Citizens are advised to:
? Keep a close watch on their belongings at all times.
? Avoid displaying valuables such as jewellery or large amounts of cash in public.
? Immediately report any suspicious activity or persons to the nearest police personnel or dial 112.
