BRIEF FACTS:
On 02/06/2025 at around 12:00 PM, complainant Vicky Jain opened his office at Katra Neel, Chandni Chowk, Delhi, accompanied by his employees Om Prakash, Vikram and later Vicky. While inside, he observed three unknown boys on the CCTV screen approaching his office via the staircase and returned. Around 02:00 PM, two of them returned and one of them lifted shutter, prompting Om Prakash and Vicky to run outside and raise an alarm. Vicky locked the glass gate from inside. However, one boy then fired a shot at the glass gate, shattering it, and kicked it open. Subsequently, two boys entered and one of them, threatened Vicky and Vikram at gunpoint, while the second boy searched the office and found ?35 lakhs in cash in a cupboard, placed it into a black backpack, and fled down the lane along with the others, brandishing pistols. Consequently, Police was informed and case FIR No. 538/25 dated 03/06/2025 U/s 309(4)/3(5) BNS & 25/27 Arms Act was registered at PS Lahori Gate and the investigation was taken up.

TEAM AND INVESTIGATION:
Sensing the gravity of the offence, multiple teams of North District were created.

All teams were briefed on the spot immediately after receiving information about the offense, and they were directed to analyze CCTV footage of the incident and nearby areas. From the analysis of the CCTV footage, it was towards Bagh Diwar Masjid. Suspects were also seen at same route prior to the incident.

After identifying the suspects clothing and physical features, different teams were instructed to check CCTV footage along the suspects entry and exit routes. Subsequently, all teams began examining CCTV footage, including cameras installed at Dangal Maidan, Bankhandi Mandir and in front of Old Delhi Railway Station. During this process, it was found that two of the three criminals were seen traveling in an auto-rickshaw past the road near Old Delhi Railway Station. Auto was tracked, and while pursuing it, the police reached Shahdara. Upon checking CCTV footage there, it was discovered that all the suspects had travelled via Loni towards Baghpat. Thereafter, different CCTV cameras captured various images of the suspects, and they were identified in Baghpat. During this exercise, some other crucial clue appeared, which led Police team to Indira Colony Village Niwara Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh.

Following this, the suspects' photos were shown in Nivada, Baghpat, where it was learned that one of the suspects is a boy named Nikhil, a resident of Theodi, Baraut, and another accomplice named Shekhar, a resident of Indira Colony, Nivada. Immediately thereafter, a raid was conducted at Shekhar’s house in Indira Colony, where Shekhar was apprehended. Shekhar disclosed that he had committed the robbery along with his associates Nikhil, Sahil and Tushar, and that his share of the loot was approximately ?13 lakhs, which was in his possession. He further stated that he could help the police arrest Nikhil from his house. Whereas Sahil and Tushar are resident of Rohtak and he don’t know their whereabouts. Based on Shekhar’s disclosure, Nikhil was arrested from Theory, Baraut, and he confessed that he had ?6.5 lakhs from the looted amount in his possession.

During interrogation, Shekhar revealed that he had come into contact with Tushar through Instagram, and he did not have information about their residential addresses. Subsequently, Tushar’s Instagram profile was checked, and it was found that he lived in a village near Kalanaur, Rohtak. It was also learned during interrogation that Tushar had earlier been lodged in Tihar Jail along with Divansh @ Ravan, brother of Shekhar, and it was in Tihar Jail that Tushar and Shekhar came into contact. Upon checking Tushar’s records in ICJS and jail records, it was found that Tushar, a resident of Village Ballabh, Rohtak, had been incarcerated in Tihar Jail in 2023 in a robbery case. Tushar’s photograph was shown to Shekhar, who identified him. Following this, a local enquiry in Village Ballabh revealed that Sahil is a resident of Village Sudhan, Rohtak. Sahil was then arrested from his village, and shortly thereafter, Tushar was also arrested from his village. From Sahil, an amount of ?6,50,000 looted in the robbery was recovered, and from Tushar, ?7,80,000 and Desi katta used in the crime were recovered. Later on, robbed money and one Desi katta was recovered from Shekhar & Nikhil.

INTERROGATION:
During interrogation, it was revealed that Shekhar had obtained information through an acquaintance about certain offices in Old Delhi where cash transactions take place. After that, he visited these locations in Old Delhi multiple times to observe them. Shekhar shared this information with his brother Divansh @ Ravan, an inmate of Tihar jail and asked him to arrange boys to carry out any future robbery. Divansh @ Ravan, who was also lodged in jail, gave Shekhar's Instagram ID to his fellow inmate Tushar and asked him to get in touch with Shekhar. Divansh @ Ravan is still running in Tihar Jail in case FIR No. 585/23 u/s 392/395/397/120-B/34 IPC PS Darya Ganj, Delhi.

Sometime after being released from jail, Tushar and Shekhar came into contact, and Shekhar called Tushar to Old Delhi along with one more boy. Shekhar, along with his associate Nikhil, waited for them outside Old Delhi Railway Station. Shekhar was on a motorcycle and was positioned at a distance, overseeing the planning. As per the plan, Nikhil, Shekhar, and Tushar went into the said office and committed the robbery. After executing the crime, they all fled to Baghpat, where they divided the looted money. After the distribution, Nikhil and Shekhar returned to their homes, while Tushar and Sahil went to Rohtak.

It also came to light during interrogation that Tushar had earlier been jailed in a robbery case in Dwarka, and Sahil had a case of assault registered against him in his own village. Shekhar, too, had previously been imprisoned in a case under the Arms Act.
