Mahesh Dhoundiyal – Delhi

India has officially surpassed Japan to become the world’s fourth largest economy—a historic achievement that reflects the strength, determination and aspirations of over a billion Indians.

Dr Parmeet Singh Chadha, Global Chairman of the World Sikh Chamber of Commerce (WSCC), congratulated the Indian government and every citizen on this historic achievement.

“This is not just a number. It is a national awakening. India is no longer the economy of the future, but the economy of the present,”

Dr Chadha said.

India's strengths:

Young, skilled and ambitious population

Digital and fintech platforms like UPI, Aadhaar, ONDC

Expanding manufacturing sector and PLI based exports

Growing global trust and diplomatic influence

Key challenges:

Need for large scale employment and skill development

Infrastructure modernisation and inclusive urban planning

Bridging rural-urban, digital and wealth disparities

Simplifying regulations and taxation system

What the industry should focus on:

Green growth, global expansion and ESG leadership

R&D, AI adoption and digital innovation

MSME empowerment and domestic value chains

Promoting ‘Brand India’ in global markets

What the government should continue to do:

Further simplify trade regulations and taxes

Accelerate FTAs ??and trade promotion

Strengthen logistics, infrastructure and energy systems

Promote public-private partnerships for skill development

WSCC's appeal:

As a global organisation of Sikh professionals with a progressive outlook WSCC is committed to India’s next leap – to become one of the top 3 economies in the world.

“We urge all our members and entrepreneurs from across the industry to come forward, collaborate and innovate with purpose. Let us together shape India’s century,”

concluded Dr. Parmeet Singh Chadha.
