Media Should Safeguard People's Rights

Although there is freedom of expression, the media must protect the rights of the people, said EFLU Vice-Chancellor Rajarao. He emphasized that accurate information should be provided to the public instead of giving importance to sensationalism. He noted that the tendency to sensationalize every issue has increased, especially after the advent of social media, which has also led to the spread of falsehoods. He stressed that journalists have a responsibility to understand and communicate the government's schemes and policies comprehensively to the public.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the National Convention jointly organized by Working Journalists of India, OU College of Education, and Andhra Mahila Sabha College of Teacher Education on Friday at Osmania University, under the theme "National Education Policy – Role of Media."

Working Journalists of India national president Sanjay Upadhyay called on journalists to work in the interest of the nation. Senior journalist Vallishwar, former EFLU Dean Sudhakar, University B.Ed College Principal Ravindranath K. Murthy, and Assistant Professor Dr. Lalitha, among others, also addressed the gathering.
Speakers opined that journalists and educators play a crucial role in enlightening society. They praised the initiative taken by the Working Journalists of India to bring both groups together on a single platform. They explained the necessity of implementing the National Education Policy 2020 and urged journalists to help dispel misconceptions surrounding it.
In the second session, several educators presented research papers and delivered talks on the National Education Policy, the challenges in its implementation, and possible solutions. Speakers included Erroju Srinivas, Dr. Rajaram, Dr. Radhika (Pondicherry), Upender, and WJI Honorary President Nandanam Krupakar.

In the concluding session, eminent educationist Murali Manohar delivered a keynote address. WJI State President Ranapratap, General Secretary Ravikanti Srinivas, Vice President Karunakar, and others also spoke. Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and renowned journalist MVR Shastr sent video messages emphasizing the importance of implementing the National Education Policy. They also congratulated the WJI representatives for organizing this conference.
Presentation of Excellence Awards to Journalists
The Working Journalists of India (WJI) presented national awards on sunday to journalists who displayed outstanding performance. Several individuals from print, electronic, and digital media were honored.

The awards were presented by WJI National President Sanjay Upadhyay, senior journalist Vallishwar, and educationist Murali Manohar.

Veteran journalist, former editor of Andhrabhoomi, and writer MVR Shastri was announced as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
