PARIVARTAN, the NSS Unit of Mata Sundri College for Women, organised a Civil Defence Mock Drill Awareness Session at Than Singh Pathshala. Committed NSS volunteers actively supported this effort, which aimed to raise children's understanding of safety and emergency preparedness.

The session began with an insightful address by Prof. Harpreet Kaur, Principal of Mata Sundri College for Women. She highlighted the urgent need to equip children especially those from underprivileged backgrounds with essential knowledge about emergency situations. She emphasized that safety education is a crucial life skill, stating, "Preparedness is the key to prevention. Our goal is to build a culture where safety is second nature to every child." She appreciated the collaborative efforts of the NSS Unit and Delhi Police for bringing such impactful awareness programs to the community.
Dr. Uzma Nadeem, the Programme Officer of NSS emphasized the importance of the mock drill as a preventive measure to raise awareness of safety. She emphasized that being ready involves more than simply knowing what to do; it also involves practicing until it becomes automatic.
The session's highlight was the enlightening speech given by Delhi Police Head Constable Than Singh, who has played a significant role in educating impoverished children and promoting an environment of safety and responsibility. Than Singh Sir presented the idea of mock drills to the kids through interesting explanations and hands-on examples, highlighting its importance in the context of escalating geopolitical tensions.  He emphasized the value of staying calm and alert while outlining the normal processes to be followed in emergency situations including blackout procedures.
Along with learning how to identify distinct emergency siren sounds, children also learned what to do right away in various situations. Students had tremendous enthusiasm for learning life-saving techniques. The NSS volunteers were instrumental in leading the program. Their participation made sure the presentation ran well and that the young audience was engaged in a meaningful way. Children were effectively given fundamental emergency response skills during the workshop which increased their resilience and confidence in the face of unexpected events.
This event was successfully held under the guidance of Prof. Harpreet Kaur, the principal of Mata Sundri college. With this, PARIVARTAN goes ahead with its aim of community involvement and holistic education through such significant initiatives.
