The environmental enthusiasts' gathering and Green Army event was successfully organized at Central Park, Kailash Hills. This remarkable event saw the participation of local residents and environmental lovers, including prominent social worker Jitin Rajput along with Mrs. Palak Mittal, Mr. Shekhar Oberoi, Ms. Tanvi Saadh, Mr. Deepak Sharma, Dr. Nikhil Saxena, Mr. Ritesh Mehta, Mr. Charanjeet Gera, Mrs. Jyoti Saini, Mrs. Sheetal Nirula, Ms. Nidhi Julka, Sardar Manmohan Singh, and several other environmental enthusiasts playing key roles. Some distinguished social activists such as Mr. Ashish Jain (Founder of IPCA), Mr. Dharmveer Singh, Mr. Anil Behl, Mr. Sandeep Roda, Sardar J.S. Chaddha, and Mr. Hemant Thakur were also present at the event. The formation of the Green Army was made possible under the sincere guidance of prominent social worker Mr. Rajiv Nagpal and his organization, the Kailash Hills Community Association. Event coordinator and leading social worker Jitin Rajput informed Bureau Chief Vijay Gaur that numerous environmental enthusiasts gathered at this event and shared their experiences and work. Through this, social workers involved in different areas of environmental protection pledged to work together as a Green Army. Children were appointed as team captains and formed four teams that participated in a cleanliness drive, during which they collected 20 kilograms of plastic waste from the Children’s Park and Central Park within just 20 minutes. All participants pledged that from today onwards, they would neither litter in public spaces nor allow anyone else to do so in their presence. They also committed to segregating dry and wet waste at home before handing it over to sanitation workers and learned how to compost wet waste at home. Plans were made by the Green Army’s environmental enthusiasts to organize large-scale tree plantation and water conservation programs in the future, with special emphasis on the cleaning and maintenance of the Yamuna River. An appeal was also made to transform homes into green homes and to gift plants and undertake tree plantations on birthdays and other special occasions. It is hoped that the Green Army will play a crucial role in making Delhi clean and green.
