GAIL (India) Limited Jhabua organised off-site mock drill in the district

GAIL (India) Limited Jhabua in collaboration with District Administration and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Jhabua, under the guidance of Jhabua Collector Neha Meena, organised an off-site emergency mock drill at Dhebar-Badi village Jhabua to review its emergency preparedness in case of a natural gas pipeline accident.

A mock scenario of multiple explosions of gas cloud was created. The gas cloud was formed due to continuous gas leakage from the 36-inch gas pipeline Ch. No. 304 Anas 2 to Mohankot pipeline, Dhebar-Badi village. The main objective of the mock drill was to evaluate and check the efficacy and adequacy of resources required during any such disaster and to review the preparedness of the technical team of GAIL and other response agencies and to improve disaster/emergency preparedness systems of GAIL Jhabua. During the drill, a total of 213 villagers were evacuated from nearby areas with the help of the SDRF team.

The main point of the mock drill is to spread awareness among the villagers about the do's and don'ts near underground gas pipelines. All the agencies have worked together with excellent coordination.” General Manager (O&M)/OIC GAIL Jhabua Shri Prabuddha Majumdar said that “during the one hour drill the affected area was cordoned off, all response agencies performed their assigned tasks and responsibilities in coordination in the presence of all mutual aid partners”.

Sub Divisional Officer Revenue Jhabua Bhaskar Gachale said that in the offsite mock drill around 576 personnel including affected people from nearby areas, departments of district administration including GAIL like fire, police, health, traffic, BPCL, IOCL, supervisors and DDMA participated in the emergency drill. General Manager (O&M) & OIC GAIL Jhabua under the guidance of Collector Prabuddha Majumdar along with his GAIL team successfully conducted the offsite level mock drill. GAIL, DDMA, Deputy Collector Jhabua, CMHO, CMO, Tehsildar, SDOP, Police Department Jhabua, local fire department were present in the mock drill.
