HUGE CACHE OF PROHIBITED CIGARETTES SEIZED; ONE ARRESTED

INTRODUCTION: 

With the arrest of one person namely Mohammad Danish R/o Hauz Qazi, Delhi, Age 40 yrs, a team of Inter State Cell of Crime Branch, Chanakyapuri has seized  80,400 prohibited cigarettes of international brands. 

TEAM AND OPERATION: 

A secret information was received to SI Gaurav about a huge stock of prohibited cigarettes in the area of Lal Kuan, Hauz Qazi, Delhi and timely raid could lead to recovery of entire stock before further splitting it into smaller quantities. In order to unearth the entire conspiracy of the syndicate and to nab the accused person a dedicated team comprising of Insp. Mahipal Singh, SI Gaurav, ASIs Jafruddin, Satyaveer, HCs Naveen, Sunil, Surender and Ct. Manju under the supervision of Insp. Satendra Mohan and over all supervision of Sh. Ramesh Chander Lamba, ACP/ISC was constituted. 

On 08.02025, the raid was conducted in a Flat at Lal Kuan, Hauz Qazi, Delhi from where prohibited cigarettes of multiple brands were recovered. The owner of the flat namely Mohammad Danish having possession of prohibited cigarettes was also nabbed from his premises. A total of 80,400 prohibited cigarettes of 05 international brands were seized. The market value of stock is ? 8.04 Lacs. On checking, it was revealed that the seized cigarette boxes don’t have statutory warning issued by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GOI. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 85/25, u/s 7/20 COTPA Act was registered at PS Crime Branch, Delhi and the investigation was taken up. 

INTERROGATION AND MODUS OPERANDI: 

During interrogation, Mohammad Danish confessed that he is indulged in illegal trading of imported cigarettes for last 02 years. He used to buy the same from one Farman and his associates and further supply the same to small cigarette shops at a good margin. The imported cigarettes have a high demand in the local market. 

RECOVERY: 

A total of 80,400 prohibited cigarettes of 05 international brands i.e Esse black, Esse black gold, Camel gold Turkish, Rothmans and Parliament were seized worth ? 8.04 Lacs. 

PROFILE OF ACCUSED: 

Mohammad Danish has studied up to BA Hons. from Kirorimal College (DU), owns a shop of Fish Aquarium in Maujpur, Delhi and also works as an an interior designer. He started doing this illegal trade around 2 years ago to make quick money.
