It is possible that MP Mahua Moitra’s objective was to divert attention from the internal issues her party is facing in Bengal — Delhi BJP President

If MP Mahua Moitra had the seriousness of a Member of Parliament, she would have reported this incident to the Delhi Police rather than spreading sensationalism on social media — Virendra Sachdeva

Our C.R. Park is a socially harmonious area where people from North India, coming from Delhi and surrounding cities, enjoy the cultural heritage of Bengal during Durga Puja celebrations — Shikha Roy

New Delhi, 9 April : Delhi BJP President Shri Virendra Sachdeva today strongly condemned the action of Trinamool Congress MP, Ms. Mahua Moitra, for posting a video reel created by unknown individuals on the social media platform X.

During a press conference attended by Greater Kailash MLA Mrs. Shikha Roy and BJP Media Head Shri Praveen Shankar Kapoor, the Delhi BJP President stated that MP Moitra’s careless action of posting on social media could have two possible objectives. One possibility is that she intended to divert attention from the ongoing internal issues within her party in Bengal, or, as is widely known, she seeks cheap popularity for staying in the news, which has now resulted in criminal negligence.

Shri Virendra Sachdeva further added that MP Mahua Moitra, by irresponsibly reposting a video from an unknown person, has tarnished the social fabric of Delhi.

He pointed out that MP Mahua Moitra has previously been involved in spreading deliberate lies against the BJP, and reposting this video could be a part of that ongoing campaign.

The Delhi BJP President stated that the fish markets mentioned in the video, which are allegedly to be removed, have been allocated by DDA for nearly six decades. Most of the shopkeepers are Hindu, involved in the local social activities, and follow all cleanliness regulations in the market. These fish shops are a basic necessity for the local people, and several of the shopkeepers are politically affiliated with the BJP.

Shri Sachdeva emphasized that if Ms. Mahua Moitra were serious about her role as a Member of Parliament, she would have reported the issue to the Delhi Police, instead of creating a sensational uproar on social media.

The Delhi BJP demands that the Delhi Police not only arrest the youths involved in creating this anti-social video but also investigate MP Mahua Moitra for her sensational reposting of the video without proper police reports.

Local MLA Mrs. Shikha Roy stated that C.R. Park is an area known for its social harmony, where people from North India, coming from Delhi and nearby cities, celebrate Durga Puja and enjoy the culture of Bengal.

Mrs. Roy further stated that the local fish market is operating within the legal framework, and BJP’s local workers stand with the fish market vendors socially. They will not allow any attempts to intimidate, threaten, or remove them to succeed.

Delhi BJP Media Head Shri Praveen Shankar Kapoor, who coordinated the press conference, remarked that people from all states of the country reside in Delhi and practice their cultural traditions and customs. The BJP government will not allow anyone to disrespect the culture of people settled in Delhi from other states. Fish market vendors in C.R. Park should be able to do business in Delhi with as much security as they would in Kolkata.
