SUCCESSFUL OPERATION AGAINST ILLEGAL GAMBLING BY THE VIGILANT STAFF OF PS GAZIPUR, EAST DISTRICT

East District Police Crack Down on Illegal Gambling Operation in Gazipur

INCIDENT & INVESTIGATION: -

Acting on heightened alert and directives to curb crime within the district, a patrol team consisting of HC Monu and Ct. Nilesh, under the supervision of Inspector Nirmal Kumar Jha and the overall supervision of ACP/Madhu Vihar, conducted routine surveillance in the Paper Market area of DDA Park, Ghazipur.

In a successful operation targeting illegal gambling activities, the vigilant staff of Police Station Gazipur, East District, apprehended three individuals involved in “Satta” (illegal betting). The operation, conducted on April 9, 2025, resulted in the seizure of ?2450 in cash and playing cards. At approximately 8:50 PM, the patrol team observed three individuals engaged in gambling. Upon noticing the police presence, the suspects attempted to flee but were apprehended by Ct Nilesh and HC Monu. A cursory search revealed ?2450 in cash and playing cards in their possession.

Relevant evidence, including the seized cash and playing cards, were taken into police custody. A case, FIR No. 170/2025, under section 12/9/55 of the Gambling Act, dated April 9, 2025, has been registered at PS Gazipur. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.

• He is 6th pass.

• Previous involvement: Nil

• Profession: works as daily wager.

RECOVERY: -

• 2450/- cash in various denominations.

• 52 playing cards.
