A team of Special Cell/SWR, led by Insps. Manender Singh, Neeraj Kumar and Sundeep Yadav, under the supervision of ACP Sh. Sanjay Dutt, has arrested an inter-state firearms supplier namely Sonu @ Sillu @ Sheenu (Age 34 Years) S/O Satbir R/O Present Address: - Masterwadi, Mudh, Mumbai, (MH) Permanent Address: - Vidyanand Colony, Ward No. 12, Sanoli UbraKhedi Road, Panipat, Haryana. He is associated with Neeraj Bawana Gang

OPERATION & ARREST:

An inputs regarding inter-state gun-runner syndicate was received . During manual intelligence development, it came to notice that one Sonu @ Sheenu is associated with Neeraj Bawana gang and also wanted in an arms trafficking case. For the last three years, he was absconding and avoiding the police dragnet, he had shifted his base to Mumbai. He was actively indulged in the gang’s activities.

In September 2022, staff of PS-Bawana had arrested one Sachin, associate of Sonu and from him 4 country made pistols (desi katte), 2 magazines, 79 live cartridges and 5 barrel cleaning rods were recovered. The recovered arms and ammunition were kept in two separate vehicles. In that case, accused Sonu was wanted and absconding. He was declared proclaimed offender by the Hon’ble Court in April 2023. To avoid the police dragnet, he had shifted his base to Mumbai and was in regular touch with other gang members.

On 01/07/2025, specific input were received regarding the whereabouts of Sonu and accordingly, the team was departed to mumbai where on 02.07.25 Sonu was identified and arrested under the relevant sections of law. He was produced before the Ld ACJM, Borivali, Mumbai and his transit remand was sought. Concerned local police has been informed regarding arrest of Sonu.

PROFILE AND INTERROGATION OF ACCUSED SONU:

Accused Sonu is a permanent resident of Panipat and shifted his base to Mumbai. He has studied upto class 10th. He came in touch with bad elements and started his alliance with Neeraj Bawana Gang. In the year 2022, he procured illegal firearms for Neeraj Bawana gang. His associate Sachin was arrested and he was absconding since then. In Mumbai, he had changed his identity and was working as driver.

His two other associates in the case are Arvind and Deepak Pakasma and both absconding are seems to be abroad. He is also previously involved in one case FIR No 26/19 u/s 60/72 UP Excise Act, PS- Berinag, Pittorgarh, Uttarakhand. Further investigation of the case is in progress.
