Desperate criminal, wanted in 4 cases of Robbery cum murder of Delhi and Uttrakhand, arrested after 25 years

The Crime Branch’s Team NDR/R.K.Puram has achieved a significant success with the arrest of a desperate criminal, Ajay Lamba alias Bansi, declared a Proclaimed Offender, who had been absconding for the last 25 years.  
He was wanted in connection with a murder case registered under FIR No. 77/2001 at PS New Ashok Nagar, Delhi, under sections 302/307/201/392/34 IPC. 
The accused, a notorious robber-cum-murderer, was involved in four brutal robbery-cum-murder cases targeting cab drivers across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand during the year 2001. He would hire taxis with accomplices, murder the drivers, rob the vehicles, and dispose of the bodies in remote mountainous regions to avoid detection. 
Background & Modus Operandi 
 
Originally a resident of Krishna Nagar, Delhi, born in 1976, Ajay dropped out of school after Class VI and became involved in criminal activities in his early teens. Declared a Bad Character from PS Vikas Puri under the alias “Banshi,” he later changed his name to Ajay Lamba in 1996 and moved to Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. There, in collaboration with Dhirendra and Dilip Negi, he operated a violent scheme where taxis were hired, drivers murdered, vehicles looted, and resold in Nepal. 
Absconding & FIR History 
Ajay Lamba was wanted in 04 heinous robbery-cum-murder cases registered between 1999–2001 across Delhi, Haldwani, Almora, and Champawat. He was never arrested in these cases and declared a proclaimed offender an all cases. He also carried a string of earlier cases dating back to 1990, ranging from theft to illegal possession of arms.  
  Operation 
       
 After extensive manual and technical surveillance, a dedicated team led by Inspectors  Rakesh Kumar and Anuj Kumar including SIs Amit, Yatander Malik, Asi VIkas and HCs Nahanji, Dinesh, Ravinder, Sukhbir, Satywan apprehended the accused from Delhi. 
 
 Profile and recent activities 
He lived in Nepal for about ten years from 2008 to 2018 and then shifted to Dehradun with his family. In 2020, he allegedly became involved in the ganja supply chain from Odisha to other parts of India, including Delhi. He was recently arrested in a case registered under NDPS Act in 2021in PS Sagarpur, Delhi  and again in a jewellery shop dacoity case in Behrampur, Orissa in 2024. He was on bail in these cases. He never disclosed his involvement and absconding status to anyone.    
Further investigation is being carried on.
