Delhi Veterinary Association Celebrates 47th Foundation Day and International Women’s Day with Grandeur
The Delhi Veterinary Association (DVA) marked its 47th Foundation Day and International Women’s Day with a grand celebration at Andaaz Mansion, Kirti Nagar. The event was inaugurated by DVA President Dr. Vijay Kumar in the presence of esteemed guests, including Mr. Praveen Sharma (Sahyog Cell, Delhi BJP State), Dr. Sanjeet Kumar, IFS, Dr. Lalita Kumari, IRS, Dr. Satyavir Singh, Director, Animal Husbandry, Dr. Abhay Triguna, Dr. Rahul M Pawar, Dr. Ubed Khan, Dr. Vijay Dagar, Dr. K.K. Sharma, Dr. Purushotam, Dr. Sunil Choudhary, Dr. Vinay Choudhary, Dr. Sandeep, Dr. Khanna, Dr. Abhisekh, De Geeta Dr. Debalina, Dr. Prem and all other executive committee members of DVA. The program also included delegates from the Delhi Government, MCD, Central Government, laboratory institutions, private practitioners, and members from other associations like SAVA (Delhi), PPA (Delhi), PPA (UP), and SAPA (Gurugram). Founder Members of DVA including Dr. D.K. Verma, Dr. Vinod Jaimini, Dr. I.D. Sharma, Dr. Shamsher Bahadur, and Dr. Kalra were present during the celebration and honored in the program.

DVA General Secretary Dr. Rahul M. Pawar introduced the organization and highlighted its remarkable journey since its inception in 1978. He emphasized the association’s vital role in uniting veterinarians across government bodies, municipal corporations, research institutions, zoos, and private practices. This year’s celebration focused not only on the legacy of veterinary excellence but also on recognizing the significant contributions of women veterinarians, who continue to transform the field.
Dr. Swapnil P Jagtap recounted the history of the DVA, detailing its foundation and numerous achievements in strengthening the veterinary fraternity. The event was graced by the association’s founding members, distinguished veterinarians from Delhi NCR, and numerous women veterinarians.
A special talk session on Women Empowerment in the Veterinary Profession featured renowned lady veterinarians, including Dr. Geeta, Dr. Sunita Nauriyal, Dr. Neelam Josan, Dr. Jyotsna Triguna, and Dr. Prabhjot Triguna, who shared their experiences and insights. They discussed the progress made by women in the field and explored future opportunities for female veterinarians.
One of the most notable moments of the event was a generous donation made by Mrs. Santosh Yadav, wife of Dr. Vijay Kumar, who contributed 100 gaj of land to the DVA for constructing its official building and office. The new building will be named in honor of Mrs. Vidya Devi, mother of Dr. Vijay Kumar, as a tribute to her legacy. The Yadav family was present during the ceremony, and several veterinarians generously contributed funds toward the building project.

Furthermore, LoonShot Welfare Foundation announced that, in collaboration with DVA, an annual event for lady veterinarians will be celebrated at various levels.

During the program, all lady veterinarians, founding DVA members, retired government officers, special guests, and dignitaries were felicitated.

DVA Vice President Dr. Abhay Triguna delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the retired veterinarians, founding members, special guests, and women veterinarians.

The celebration concluded with a renewed commitment to advancing veterinary science and ensuring a more inclusive and empowered future for women in the profession. The event left a lasting impact, reinforcing DVA’s role in shaping the veterinary field in the National Capital Territory and beyond.
