Dr. Uzma Nadeem won Special Prize and Medal at National Paper Presentation Competition

Dr. Uzma Nadeem, Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Studies at Mata Sundri College for Women, University of Delhi, was recently awarded the Special Prize along with a medal at the prestigious National Paper Presentation Competition. This award was presented by Dr. Rajinder Dhar Hon’ble District Judge Consumer Court ( South District ) Delhi. The event was jointly organized by Bhagidari Jan Sahyog Samiti and the National Service Scheme (NSS) of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University on 7th March 2025. The competition took place at the Seminar Hall of the NDMC Convention Centre, located on Jai Singh Road, New Delhi.

Dr. Nadeem presented a thought-provoking paper titled "?????? ??? ???? ???????? ?? ???? ?? ??????, ???? ???????, ???????? ?? ????????? ?????? ??????????? ?? ??????" (Prevention of Substance Abuse in Delhi, Its Legislations, Enforcement, and Awareness: The Role of NSS Volunteers). Her research shed light on the critical issue of substance abuse in Delhi, emphasizing the legal frameworks, enforcement mechanisms, and the significant role that NSS volunteers play in raising awareness and driving preventive efforts within communities.

In addition to her academic role, Dr. Nadeem serves as the NSS Program Officer at Mata Sundri College for Women. With a robust background in environmental science and sustainability studies, she is deeply engaged in teaching, research, and impactful community engagement. Her academic interests include environmental policy, sustainable development, and ecological conservation, and she is widely recognized for integrating these themes into her outreach activities.

As an NSS Program Officer, Dr. Nadeem is committed to fostering a sense of social responsibility among students, encouraging them to contribute meaningfully to society. Under her guidance, the NSS unit at Mata Sundri College has initiated and participated in various service-learning projects, addressing both environmental and social issues. Her recent recognition at the national level further underscores her dedication to combining academic excellence with civic engagement.
