Name of Jaivilas Palace gate located in old cantonment changed, now the gate will be known as Databandi Chhor: Chief Minister

Bureau Chief Pavan Parohiti - Gwalior

Gwalior - Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced to name the "Nagar Dwar" of Gwalior city located on Gwalior-Morena road as "Data Bandi Chhor Dwar" after the 6th Guru of Sikhs, Guru Hargobind Singh. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the Sikh community has a glorious history in Gwalior-Chambal region. A large number of Sikh families reside in this region. Therefore, the "Nagar Dwar" built in the old cantonment area on Gwalior's Morena road will be named "Data Bandi Chhor Dwar".

The sixth Guru of Sikhs, Hargobind Singh, was kept captive by Mughal emperor Jahangir in Gwalior for many years, other 52 Hindu kings were also imprisoned with him. The Mughal emperor, frightened by the spiritual power-sadhana of Guru ji, decided to release him. Hargobind Singh Ji refused to be released alone and expressed his resolve to come out along with 52 Hindu kings. The Mughal emperor was forced to release 52 Hindu kings along with Guru Hargobind Singh Ji.

It is very appropriate and relevant to name the newly built "Nagar Dwar" in the old cantonment on Morena road in Gwalior as "Datta Bandi Chhor Dwar" after Guru Hargobind Sahib. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has congratulated Smart City and Municipal Corporation Gwalior for remembering this glorious history. He said that with this initiative, the country and the world will once again become familiar with this important aspect.
