13th National Dragonboat Championship gets off to a grand start in Delhi

The 13th National Dragonboat Championship got off to a grand start for the first time on the waves of the Yamuna river in the capital Delhi. The Dragonboat National Championship was inaugurated by Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma by waving the tricolour of the race. On this occasion, apart from Haryana State Social Welfare Board Chairperson Sumitra Chauhan, PCI President Satyanarayan Babu, regional MLA Mohan Singh Bisht, GST Commissioner Sanjeev Mishra, Indian Paralympic Committee Administrative Officer Colonel Amrik Singh, Army Adventure Incharge Colonel PS Chauhan were present as special guests.

On this occasion, Indra Peethadhishwar Jagat Guru Yogeshwaracharya Ji Maharaj gave his blessings to the players from all the states.

Note that this competition is being organized by the Delhi State Kayaking and Canoeing Association in collaboration with the Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association at the Sonia Vihar Water Sports Club from 3 to 6 January.

All the guests who arrived on the occasion of inauguration of the competition were felicitated by the officials of Delhi State Kayaking Canoeing Association and Sonia Vihar Water Sports Club, including President U.K. Chaudhary, Vice President Kunwarpal Singh, Secretary Manjit Shekhawat, Kaushal Kumar, Rajesh Sharma, Anil Kumar Pandey, Brij Mahkar Rathi, Sandeep Mishra, Mili Singh, Devendra Singh and guests from outside.

In the first day of the competition, Haryana came first in the women's D-10 2000 km race, while Delhi came second and Punjab came third.

In the D-20 men's category 2000 km, Chandigarh came first and won the gold medal, Haryana won the silver medal and Punjab came third by winning the bronze medal.

In the women's D-20 2000 meters, Haryana won the gold and the silver medal, and the team of Chandigarh and Punjab showed their strength and won the bronze medal.

In the men's category D-10 2000 km, Haryana won the gold medal, Maharashtra won the silver medal and Punjab won the bronze medal.

More than 700 senior players from Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana, Goa, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, ITBP, Himachal, etc. are participating in the competition.

The enthusiasm of the players in the biting cold of winter in Delhi was worth seeing. During the boating race, the boats running to the beat of the drums fascinated everyone. For the people of Delhi, the sight of the dragon boat running on the Yamuna river was no less than a surprise for the people. With the efforts of the organizers, parents participated enthusiastically along with the players to make this competition even more special. The echo of applause from all sides not only boosted the morale of the players, but also inspired the youth coming here to join sports competitions like boating.
