City vice president of Congress IT cell Salim Pathan (Khajrana) has opposed burning of 335 tons of Union Carbide's waste in Pithampur. He said that this will pollute the environment of the area and will also affect the natural beauty of Shabe Malwa. This is a threat to the entire humanity. He said that if there is no threat from this, then why is it not being burnt around Bhopal. However, he has said that the court should reconsider this matter.

Salim Pathan said what is the hurry to burn 335 tons of Union Carbide's waste in Pithampur 40 years after the Bhopal gas tragedy. If we have waited for so many years, then we should reconsider a little more and consider burning the toxic waste at some other place. Because if this toxic waste is burnt in Pithampur, then the coming generations of Indore and the surrounding areas will have to suffer the ill effects of this toxic waste.

Keeping in mind the people living around Pithampur and the general public, Salim Pathan, city vice president of Congress IT cell, has strongly protested against burning of this toxic waste in Pithampur.
