In a groundbreaking step to address the massive backlog of traffic challans in the capital, Hon'ble Mr Justice Manmohan, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, inaugurated the "Evening Courts for Traffic Challans" ECTC at the Rouse Avenue Court Complex, Delhi. This pioneering initiative, aimed at expediting the resolution of crores of pending traffic challans, is the result of a concerted effort by the Delhi District Courts IT Committee under the leadership of Sh. Sanjay Garg, Principal District & Sessions Judge (HQ), Tis Hazari.

At the heart of this project is a user-friendly digital portal (https://traffic.delhipolice.gov.in/evecourtddc/#/), which allows citizens to download their traffic challans and schedule their disposal at a chosen court complex and time slot. The evening courts will function from 5 PM to 7 PM on all working days, initially addressing challans issued up to December 2021, with plans to expand to later challans and additional courts.

Hon'ble mr Justice Manmohan, in his inaugural speech, lauded the innovative efforts of the IT Committee to develop this unique platform. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in reducing the burden on regular courts and enhancing access to justice for the public as well as for establishing the Rule of Law.

Hon'ble mr Justice Vibhu Bakhri , The Acting Chief Justice Delhi High Court and Hon'ble Justice ms Jyoti Singh also praised the project and the efforts of the IT committee.

Speaking at the event,
Honble  Mr Justice Bhakru remarked, “This project is a milestone in achieving the quick disposal of traffic challans by providing an easy and user-friendly mechanism. It supplements the existing system by ensuring speedy and efficient redressal of traffic challans. With the establishment of one evening court in each of the 11 districts of Delhi in the initial phase, our goal is to dispose of over 28 lakh challans annually. We also aim to expand the project further, introducing more evening courts to maximize disposal rates.”
