Arms Handler Arrested by AATS/NE Team

• One country-made pistol (Desi Katta) along with 8 live cartridges was recovered from his possession.

• A video of accused firing with country-made pistol went viral on social media.

To keep a close watch on criminals involved in gun-running activities, the AATS/NED team had been gathering intelligence from various deployed sources. Recently, a video of a person firing a country-made pistol into the air went viral on a social media platform. Though the accused's face was visible for only a fraction of a second, the team managed to identify him.

A dedicated team led by Inspector Yogesh Vashishtha, IC/AATS, comprising HCs Krishan and Sandeep, and Constables Monu and Vishal, worked diligently to trace the accused. Based on the collected clues, the team laid a trap in the Kardampuri area during the afternoon hours of 12.07.2025 and successfully apprehended the accused, identified as Salman @ Sallu, S/o Shakeel, R/o Kardampuri, Delhi, aged 23 years. One country-made pistol (Desi Katta) along with 8 live cartridges was recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, a case under Section 25 of the Arms Act was registered at PS Jyoti Nagar and further investigation was taken up. During interrogation, accused Salman confessed to his crime and disclosed the source of the weapon.

Further investigation is in progress.
