L Block, Hari Nagar, more than 700 students and more than 100 teachers from many schools including GBSSS Site-II Hari Nagar, Clock Tower Hari Nagar, SCAN SBV No. 2 B-Block Janakpuri, SBV No. 1 Tilak Nagar, and SBV No. 2 Tilak Nagar of Western District participated in this grand event and the Police Department made them aware of the many ill effects of drug consumption, the important role of teachers and students in the public awareness campaign through open discussion.

 

On this occasion, Chief Guest Anil Sharma, while describing not consuming drugs as a good sanskar, said that the fight against drug addiction is not just an educational mission, but it is a demonstration of our commitment to unite and create a drug-free society. He appealed to the teachers and students to contribute to this campaign by becoming role models themselves. He said that the campaign inspires collective action against drug abuse and spreads awareness as well as gives hope for a healthy, safe society and the initiative aims to sensitize students and teachers on the ill-effects of drug abuse, motivate them to take a collective stand against drugs, and promote a sense of responsibility in the community.

 

Assistant Commissioner of Police Anil Sharma told Bureau Chief Vijay Gaur that a pilot project to intensify efforts against drugs will be launched from December 1, 2024 in a "one-month comprehensive campaign" involving surveys, awareness drives and raids at sensitive places such as 200 hostels, 200 schools, 50 colleges, 200 paan shops, 200 pharmacies and 200 bars/pubs/clubs. • Checking of auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers to curb drug trafficking. • Involvement of hostel wardens, school principals and university administrators to prevent drug incidents on campus. Cash rewards for the public:- Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor Delhi has also announced cash rewards for the general public for providing information about drug trafficking with the assurance of anonymity and emphasized on mass awareness through print, social media, radio and public transport platforms.

 

On this occasion, the entire atmosphere reverberated with thunderous applause due to the impressive, motivational, educative and interesting street play and silent expression / presentation presented by Ashmita Theatre Group and Team Arijit Roy based on Drug Free Delhi Public Awareness Campaign.

 

All the students and teachers took a digital pledge to remain drug free and inspire others by becoming an ideal. The school heads, Inspector Pankaj and the teacher team played a significant role in organizing the program.
