Crime Branch arrested 14 bookies and 2 others involved in online betting from two different flats along with mobiles, laptops, note counting machines and pistols.

  • Police seized 45 passbooks of various banks, 22 cheque books and 133 debit cards, a laptop of Lenovo company and 27 mobile phones of various companies, iPhone-04, a note counting machine and a printer of HP company from the bookies.
  • Police seized a 32 bore pistol with a live round from the arrested kingpin.
  • In the second action, one iPhone, one Nokia company's keypad mobile, one Dell company's laptop, two ATM cards, one smart mobile and one accounting register worth about 90 thousand rupees were recovered.

 

Superintendent of Police Gwalior Shri Dharmveer Singh has directed all the station in-charges of the district to take effective action by running a campaign against the bookies who are betting online. In continuation of the said instructions, on 07.12.2024, Superintendent of Police Gwalior received information through an informer that online betting is being done from the website related to Mahadev App in some flats of Block No. MIG 7 of Prime Minister Government Housing Colony located in Mahalgaon Gwalior under Police Station University area. On the said information of the informer, Superintendent of Police Gwalior directed ASP Ayush Gupta to form a team of Crime Branch and take effective action against the bookies.

In compliance with the instructions of senior officers, under the guidance of DSP Crime Nagendra Singh Sikarwar, probationary IPS officer Mr. Jenden Lingjarpa, teams of Crime Branch were formed under the leadership of Police Station Incharge Crime Branch Inspector Ajay Singh Panwar and sent for action at the place mentioned by the informer, a flat in a government multi-storey building in Mahalgaon. Seeing the Crime Branch teams on the spot, there was a stampede among the bookies and they tried to escape from the spot, but the already alert Crime Branch teams did not give them a chance to escape and caught fourteen bookies from the spot. The bookies caught include those from Gwalior, Datia, Delhi, Bihar and Jhansi. The police team seized passbooks, chequebooks and debit cards of various banks, a laptop of Lenovo company and mobile phones of various companies from the spot. During the search of the bookies, a 32 bore pistol with a live round and laptop, mobile, printer, passbook etc. were seized from the kingpin of the bookies, resident of Gurukul Sitanagar Road, Thana Kotwali District Datia. On checking the laptop found with the bookies, a website was found open in it through which these people were luring people in the name of online gaming and grabbing money. These people were betting on win or loss through online gaming. The crime branch has taken the arrested bookies into custody and started interrogation and the arrested bookies make transactions worth lakhs every day by placing bets from the website through Mahadev app. After interrogation of the other 13 associates of the arrested bookie, some important revelations may be made and interrogation is still going on. Since the bookies caught were involved in betting in online gaming and running betting in an organised manner, a case was registered against them in the Crime Branch Police Station under FIR No. 100/24 ??Section 4(a) Public Gambling Act and 318(4), 112 BNS and 25/27 Arms Act and investigation was taken up. The bookies caught are being questioned and they will be questioned in police remand to find out where all they are connected. The main partner of the main accused caught is running a cafe named Theka-T in the City Centre area, in whose account many transactions have been found, regarding which detailed information is being obtained. Investigation is being done about the holders of the bank accounts, ATMs and cheque books which were being used in the transactions.

Material recovered in the first action:- Police seized 45 passbooks, 22 chequebooks and 133 debit cards of different banks, one laptop of Lenovo company and 27 mobile phones of different companies, iPhone-04, one note counting machine, one HP company printer and one 32 bore pistol with one live round from the bookies. Total value of the seized material is around 10 lakh 20 thousand rupees.

Today on 08.12.24, in action taken on another information by the Crime Branch, two bookies were nabbed who were running illegal betting in Flat No. 407 MIG-7 PM Awas Mahalgaon Gwalior. During the raid, the Crime Branch team went inside the flat and found two boys using mobile and laptop. On suspecting them, when the name and address of one of them was asked, he introduced himself as resident of village Khadiyahar Police Station Sihounia District Morena, currently residing at 10 lakh 20 thousand rupees. One of them said that he was residing at Flat No. 407 MIG-7 PM Awas Mahalgaon Gwalior. When questioned, he said that he worked for a person from Madhogarh (UP) in running online gaming and in return he paid him Rs. 15,000 as salary. When the other person was asked his name and address, he said that he was residing at village Khadiahar, Police Station Sihounia, District Morena, currently residing at Flat No. 407 MIG-7 PM Awas Mahalgaon Gwalior. A case number 99/24 under section 4(a) of Public Gambling Act and 112 BNS was registered against the bookies caught in Police Station Crime Branch and investigation was taken up.

Goods recovered in the second action:- One iPhone, one Nokia keypad mobile, one Dell laptop, two ATM cards, one smart mobile and one accounting register worth about 90 thousand rupees.

Dinesh Kushwah, R Naveen Parashar, R Pawan Jha, R Ramveer Sagar, R Jasveer Gurjar, R Gaurav Parmar, R Shri Krishna Tomar, R Ratnesh Rajawat, R Abhishek Yadav, R Rishi Rathore, R Jitendra Gurjar, R Manish Katare, R Sumit Sharma, R Hariom Vyas, R Rohit Ahirwar, R Dharmendra Kumar played a commendable role.
