DELHI POLICE SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDES 'NASHA MUKT BHARAT PAKHWADA.

  • ILLICIT DRUGS WORTH OVER ? 3274.5 CRORE IN INTERNATIONAL MARKET DESTROYED.

Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Delhi, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Delhi Police is committed to waging a war against Narcotics and implementing a Zero-Tolerance Policy towards drug-related crimes. The Delhi Police is determined to eradicate drug trafficking from its roots, ensuring a safer and healthier society.

Delhi Police today announced the successful conclusion of 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Pakhwada' (Drug-Free India Fortnight) on the occasion of 'International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking'. On this significant day, Delhi Police reaffirmed its commitment to combating narcotics, following the directives of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' and Hon'ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah.

Drug Destruction :

At today's main event, Delhi Police destroyed approximately 1537.1 kilograms of illicit drugs seized by the Crime Branch & Special Cell Units included 961.9 kg of Ganja, 542.9 kg of Cocaine, 06 kg of Heroin, 03 kg of Charas, 5.4 kg of Opium, and 18 kg of Alprazolam powder.

Additionally, approximately 92 kgs of illegal drugs seized by the Rohini & New Delhi Districts included 87.5 Kgs Ganja, 2 Kgs Heroin, 2.6 Kgs Charas & some tablets, injection etc have also been destroyed.

Accordingly, the total weight of the drugs destroyed is 1629.4 kilograms with an estimated international market value of ? 3274.5 crore in international market.

Seizure Details by Delhi Police:

As of 15th June, 2025, a total of 1127 cases under the NDPS Act have been registered in Delhi, resulting in the arrest of 1439 drug traffickers—a significant achievement and increasing year by year. Financial investigations have led to the seizure of assets worth approximately ? 7.76 crore, with an additional ? 19.03 crore of assets in the final stages of forfeiture. Moreover, action under PITNDPS Act, 1989 has been initiated against 28 drug traffickers, with proceedings ongoing against 32 others.

Key Achievements of 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Pakhwada' (June 12 to June 26, 2025):

  • Operation "Kavach-8.0": On June 18 and 19, Delhi Police conducted coordinated raids at 1040 locations across 15 districts. Hundreds of drug traffickers, along with illegal liquor vendors, arms smugglers, and gamblers, were arrested. Additionally, 5105 individuals were preventively detained.
  • Public Awareness: The fortnight began on June 14 with a grand event at Central Park, Connaught Place. The ANTF, Crime Branch disseminated inspiring messages across Delhi, especially among the youth.
  • Key Events:
    • June 14 (Workshop): A Drug awareness was held for 330 Teachers and Principals from 164 schools of Delhi for awareness about the drugs symptoms in children & their rehabilitation.
    • June 21 (International Yoga Day): An art exhibition focusing on the ill effects of drug abuse was organized at Red Fort in collaboration with the Brahma Kumaris organization.
    • June 22: A massive "Drug-Free Delhi" campaign event took place at India Gate, attended by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta, as the chief guest. Highlights included a live music concert by renowned singer Mika Singh, the release of a booklet titled "Delhi Police's Action Against Drugs", a painting exhibition on the "Drug-Free Delhi" theme, and an anti-drug street play by Shri Rahul Khanna's theatre group.
    • June 23: Delhi Police organized a training session for 382 investigating officers (IOs) from Delhi Police, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), and the Drug Controller Department (GNCT) on topics related to the NDPS Act, Drugs and Cosmetics Act, recent judicial pronouncements, and the MANAS portal.
    • University Campus Searches: The ANTF (Crime Branch), in collaboration with the NCB Canine Squad and District Narcotics Squad, conducted intensive search operations at multiple locations within Delhi University's North and South Campuses.

Today’s event significant initiative underscores the department's unwavering resolve to combat drug abuse and ensure a safer, healthier capital for all citizens.

The event witnessed the august presence of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi as Chief Guest along with Sh. Vivek Gogia, Spl. Commissioner of Police, Spl. Cell, the undersigned, Sh. Surender Kumar, Jt. CP/Crime, Sh. Mangesh Kashyap, Addl. CP/Crime, Sh. Sanjay Kumar Sain, Addl. CP/Crime, and other senior officers symbolising the administration’s collective commitment to eradicating the menace of drugs.

In previous initiatives under the "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan", Delhi Police destroyed approximately 43019 kilograms of illegal drugs on six different occasions, with a combined market value of around ? 10520 crores.

The Mega Drug Destruction event served as a powerful statement against the proliferation and abuse of narcotics in the city. By safely disposing of confiscated drugs, the Delhi Police aims to raise awareness and send a clear message of zero tolerance towards illicit substances.
