Directs NHAI officials to expedite and complete the project within the stipulated time frame

Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Corporate Affairs, Shri Harsh Malhotra today inspected the entire 210 Km stretch of Delhi-Saharanpur-Dehradun Expressway along with officials of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

Shri Harsh Malhotra expressed satisfaction over the progress of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway and said that this Expressway will help in decongesting the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi and reducing the load on Delhi-Meerut Expressway and other connecting highways. The Minister took note of various difficulties pointed out by the NHAI officials and directed them to expedite the completion of the project within the stipulated time frame so that it can be opened to the public as per the scheduled time frame.

NHAI officials informed the minister that the remaining parts of the project will be completed within 2-3 months.

The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway starting from Akshardham Mandir, Delhi will pass through Baghpat, Baraut, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli and Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh) and end at Dehradun.

Being developed at an estimated cost of about Rs 12000 crore, the expressway will reduce the travel time from Delhi to Dehradun from the present 6.5 hours to 2.5 hours with a rated speed of 100 kmph. The expressway will also have a separate route to Haridwar and will also connect to the Char Dham Highway, thereby improving connectivity to hill stations and pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.

With its commitment to environmental protection, the Modi government has also developed Asia's longest 12 km elevated corridor in the Rajaji National Park during the development of this expressway.
